Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe 🍪

Introduction

If you’re a chocolate chip cookie lover, these Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies will win your heart. Unlike regular cookies, they use brown butter — which gives a deep, caramel-like flavor and a perfectly soft yet chewy texture. Let’s see how to make them step-by-step.

Ingredients

Unsalted butter – ½ cup (113g)

Brown sugar – ½ cup (100g)

White sugar – ¼ cup (50g)

Egg – 1 large

Vanilla extract – 1 tsp

All-purpose flour – 1 ¼ cups (150g)

Baking soda – ½ tsp

Salt – ½ tsp

Chocolate chips – ¾ cup (120g)

Method:

Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a pan add butter , melted over medium heat. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the butter turns light golden brown and develops a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool completely.

In a bowl add all purpose flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well and set aside.

In a separate bowl add browned butter along with granulated sugar and brown sugar. Mix well. Add vanilla bean paste and egg mix for 2-3 minutes until the mixture turns pale in color and a smooth paste forms.

Fold the dry ingredients in the wet batter until just combined, do not over mix. Add chocolate chips and mix until just combined.

Scoop 4 cookies onto the prepared baking sheet leaving some space in between each cookie. Top with additional chocolate chips if desired.
Bake the cookies for 12 min or until golden crisps at the edges, gooey from the center.
Allow to cool completely before serving and enjoy.

Serving Suggestion

  • Best enjoyed warm when the chocolate is still melty.

  • Serve with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee.

Tips & Tricks
  • Don’t over-brown the butter, or it may taste bitter.

  • Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking makes cookies chewier.

  • You can add walnuts, almonds, or chunks of dark chocolate for variety.
